I made this the other day and everyone in the house loved it (bar Remy, who I had to make something else for). It's really easy, really tasty and can be easily reheated, so saves well for the next day or so.

Ingredients
Serves 4-6

  • 375 g of Cumberland Sausage Meat, or the sausage of your choice. I used Tesco Finest 12 pack of Chipolatas, meat removed from casing
  • 500ml of Chicken Stock
  • 500ml of Milk (I used whole)
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic
  • 400g of Pasta - I used Fusilli
  • Two Red Peppers
  • 3/4 Handfuls of Spinach
  • 70g of Grated Parmesan
  • 70g of Goats Cheese
  • 2 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Small Handful of Chives
Method
  1.  De-seed and chop peppers into chunks, spread out evenly over a baking tray, drizzle over 1 tbsp of olive oil and put them in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the sausage meat from it's casing. Using a small knife, score down the side of the sausage and place the meat into a bowl.
  3. Chop up the garlic cloves finely.
  4. Add a tbsp of olive oil to a large pan over a medium heat, add the sausage meat and the garlic and cook until browned - about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Whilst your meat is cooking, remove the peppers from the oven leave to cool slightly. Add the peppers to a food processor or use a hand blender to blitz into a puree.
  6. Once your sausage meat has cooked, add the chicken stock and the milk to the pan along with the peppers and mix well together. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add your pasta to the pan, stir in and leave to lightly simmer until the pasta is cooked. Usually 12-20 minutes depending on how you like it cooked. You may need to add more liquid to the pan as it cooks, you can do this by eye. I used more milk, but more stock or just water would be fine.
  8. Once the pasta has cooked, add a handful of spinach at a time and mix in until wilted.
  9. Add you goats cheese and parmesan to the pan and mix in until melted.
  10. The pasta is now ready to serve - add a sprinkle of parmesan and chopped chives to finish.
Hope you enjoy!

I was sent these products by the lovely people at Bioderma to try on the boys. (Louis, 10, Remy, 6 & Laurie, 20 months. This is a brand I came across a few years ago and have loved using their range on myself (I will be posting my regime next week) and it's been lovely to be able to use these products on my children because I know how good they are.
All my boys suffer with occasional dry skin and eczema, which always seems to flair up more during the winter months. Within the few weeks I've been using this range their skin has improved miraculously and I will continue to use it.

1. Bioderma ABC Derm Moussant Cleanser

This gentle soap-free, foaming cleanser can be used from newborn and is so mild. It's an all-in-one hair and body wash which is perfect because it cuts down on having to have lots of different products and I can use it on all three of the boys. Baby washes in general hold my favourite smells because they're always so clean smelling, but this has to be my favourite, a few people have asked me what I've used on Laurie when they've been holding him because it's such a wonderful smell. I get eczema myself on my hands and I can tell when using this how mild it is because it's actually helped my hands and doesn't sting like some other baby brands I've used. https://www.feelunique.com/

2. Bioderma ABC Derm Huile Douceur

This baby bath and body oil is scented with the same beautiful scent as the rest of this range and I have been using a few drops in the bath. It acts as a barrier on the skin to protect it from any harshness or drying effect from the water. You can also apply it directly to the skin after the bath to lock in moisture, which is especially good for this time of the year when the cold and central heating have drying effects on the skin. I have concentrated on areas of eczema, which Remy and Laurie have a few patches of at the moment, and it's completely cleared. https://www.feelunique.com

3. Bioderma ABC Derm Cold Cream Creme Visage

This face cream is specially formulated for external stresses such as wind and rain. It contains apricot kernal oil and beeswax. It reduces the sensations of dryness, discomfort and tightness which we are all prone to once the weather changes. Remy came home a few weeks ago with very sore, red and dry skin around his mouth and nose and within a day of using this his face was restored to it's usual, peachy self. I apply this to the boys faces after a bath and also before we go out anywhere and before school. I couldn't recommend this enough as a winter staple to protect your baby or child's face from the elements. https://www.feelunique.com/

If you have any questions about these products then please get in touch. They are all packaged so beautifully and available at Feel Unique - click here to shop the range https://m.feelunique.com/

This bake is the perfect companion to have with a cup of tea or coffee now the weather is getting colder. It's great for all the family because using dark chocolate and natural peanut butter reduces the overall sugar. I don't know what the nutritional information is for this, but think of it as a treat.

Ingredients

  • 100g of Green & Blacks Organic Dark Chocolate (85% Cocoa)
  • 170g Caster Sugar (or Brown Sugar)
  • 680g of Plain Flour
  • One Teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • One Teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 34g Sour Cream
  • Two Eggs (I used Clarence Court Burford Browns, because I think they're the best.)
  • 100g of Butter (I used Lurpack)
  • One tablespoon of Organic Pip & Nut Peanut Butter
  • Three very Ripe Bananas
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Handful of Walnuts for topping (Optional)

Method

Preheat your oven to 170 degrees c
1. Melt 3/4 of the chocolate in the microwave, stirring as you go, & set aside to cool. Do not allow to boil.
2. Melt your butter in a saucepan and allow to cool.
3. Weigh and mix all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt.)
4. Beat the eggs, butter and sour cream together. In a separate bowl mash your bananas and then add to the egg and mix in until it's all combined.
5. Start adding your wet ingredients to your dry and fold in with a spatula until both are combined.
6. Put a third of your mixture in another bowl and mix in your melted chocolate.
7. Grease a non stick loaf tin with butter and add your plain mixture. Next, with a spoon, add blobs of your chocolate mixture into the tin. Add your peanut butter in the same way, into blobs into the mixture.
8. Using a knife, slowly swirl the mixture together, but not too much otherwise it will all mix together and you won't get the marble effect.
9. Put your tin in the oven and bake for around 35 minutes. Test with a knife and when it comes away clear, it's ready.
10. Leave in the tin for 5 minutes after removing from the oven and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
11. If you want to, you can decorate your banana bread with melted chocolate and chopped walnuts.

Voila!

Clifton is such a lovely place, it's so quirky, pretty, whimsical. We took the opportunity to go on Friday whilst two out of three of the boys were at school.
We started off the day by having a wander around, it was such a beautiful Autumn day, I recommend walking around anywhere in this type of weather, but Clifton was the dream setting. Sunny, coat weather surrounded beautiful Autumn trees.

This beautiful florist was one of many I saw whilst we were exploring, such wonderfully fresh flowers. Some made up bouquets and the option to make up your own (Hydrangeas and Eucalyptus would have been my choice.) Belle De Jour also do the amazing floral displays for The Ivy Brasserie, Clifton - which is where we ate lunch.

The Ivy in Clifton inhabits an old bank, which is the most beautiful building. I've been to the Ivy in Cheltenham a few times before, they really know how to do interiors, down to the smallest detail. It was just as sensational inside the Bristol version of this Brasserie chain.
I had the Blackened Cod Filet, cooked in a Banana Leaf with Citrus Pickled Radish, Grilled Asparagus & Chilli & Yuzu (A Japanese Citrus Fruit) Mayonnaise. It was delicious. They've got such a wide variety of dishes and sides, I went for just this as a lighter option, but you can add sides to any of their dishes. Wai had Steak and Parmesan and Truffle Chips. I would put Truffle on everything if I could afford and source it. It's the ultimate seasoning. You can find the exact location and their full menu here. https://theivycliftonbrasserie.com/

After lunch we walked up to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, fantastic views on such a clear and sunny day, a must if you're in Clifton. The houses on the walk up to the bridge are what dreams are made of.

Walking back through Clifton Village I came across another absolutely gorgeous florist, Lisa Elliot Floral Design. I wanted ALL the flowers in this shop. http://www.lisa-elliott.co.uk/
Apparently at the top of Gloucester Street is where all the amazing pastel houses are, which I only discovered once we were home, but it gives me a reason to go back and explore very soon! I would also like to go to Papersmiths on our next visit - I mean, look! https://www.papersmiths.co.uk/
Until next time, Clifton

"A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces." - Suzie Faux
Autumn/Winter is my favourite season for fashion. I love the layering, tights, the fact it's totally acceptable to wear an outfit comprising entirely of black. (Although I have been known to do this in summer.)
So I have put together 7 staple pieces which you can mix around create different looks with, and links you can shop straight from this post.
Enjoy!

This is such a versatile item that can be worn with jeans, a skirt or smart trousers, under a dress or jumper. I always have a few different styles of white shirt in my wardrobe. You can wear a white shirt with any of other pieces in this post!

Blue jeans are your best friend, they're flattering, comfortable, sexy and they go with EVERYTHING. Heels, trainers, boots - there's not a shoe that doesn't look good with a pair of well fit jeans. If you're not sure about what style suits you best, the best thing to do is go into a shop which stocks a variety of jeans and try different styles and sizes. Once you find your perfect pair, you'll wear them again and again and most likely buy them again once they've run their course.

Black boots can be worn with any of the other items in this list. The thing I like most about having a pair of black boots is that you can wear them with black tights if you want to wear skirts or dresses as it gets colder. Go with a heel size which is most comfortable for you. I usually go mid-sized with my heel and if you prefer flats, the Chelsea boot is a perfect choice. Black Croc is my favourite.

This coat is such a great all-rounder, if you go with a neutral colour, you can wear this with anything. It's warm, functional, dress it up or down. Chose a length and cut that feels right to you.

Is there anything better than a cosy jumper or cardigan when it starts to get chillier? Wear over shirts, tees, dresses, with skirts. I like to have a few oversized jumpers, a cardigan and some fitted roll-necks. (I'm so hyped turtle neck season is back, you don't even know.)

This is where you can be playful and insert some colour and pattern into your look. Leopard print is here to stay, not just a summer romance and it's actually a neutral, so will go with any colour. Satin midis are so beautiful and are my personal favourite at the moment, wear them with your favourite knit jumper or slogan tee and cardigan. Trainers, Boots, high heels all work with this look.

Hat, scarf, gloves. You know what goes here. Choose the style and colours that you love. I really recommend a pair of leather gloves. They look great, keep you warm and will last you a lifetime. I've had mine for 7 years now and I still wear them every year.
